It was with great excitement that we travelled with Shaun and Caroline to Thailand to visit our sponsor child Jang and the rest of the Samuel’s House family. We arrived around 4pm on the Saturday, the children were playing table tennis and other games. Our little girl Jang was quiet at first (as we expected) but over the period of time we were there, we felt our relationship grow and we are now in contact on “facebook” which makes it so easy to keep in touch. One of the highlights of the trip was the first night when the children shared testimonies and sang some songs. God really is working in these children’s lives - their love for Hannah is amazing to witness. It was mother’s day while we were there and lots of the children had made special things for her. Our guesthouse (NZ Resort) was comfortable, bed was hard, but that’s no drama and within walking distance. Monty, the manager, spoke English and was very obliging bringing us hot water each morning so we could enjoy a hot coffee. What more do you need! I (Lyn) see God’s hand in the work there with Hannah and Nehemiah’s faith and the love of God being being spread throughout that little town. They are developing their talents with small business projects and sharing this with the church will in turn spread into the local community and the children are learning as well. I (Peter) was really surprised at the huge change in the whole place there in Payak. When I first visited about seven years ago I didn’t quite realise what they had planned. There was little to indicate that this was going to be the future home for so many wonderful children. I was also impressed at the behaviour of the kids - they did their chores without (as far as I was aware) much or any prompting from the adults. We both had a lovely time with the children, they tried to teach us some Thai which turned into a laughing session just us trying to say the days of the week !! When we sat around after the evening meal and the children sang choruses it was wonderful. On Sunday before church they played bible games and all joined in. It was lovely to see children who otherwise would never have known the love of God, praising Him during the service. We think that it is through the grace of God and the dedication of Nehemiah and Hannah that these children have had their lives changed for the better. And the food was AWESOME !!!!!!!” |
