It was with great excitement that we travelled with Shaun and Caroline to Thailand to visit our sponsor child Jang and the rest of the Samuel’s House family. We arrived around 4pm on the Saturday, the children were playing table tennis and other games. Our little girl Jang was quiet at first (as we expected) but over the period of time we were there, we felt our relationship grow and we are now in contact on “facebook” which makes it so easy to keep in touch. One of the highlights of the trip was the first night when the children shared testimonies and sang some songs. God really is working in these children’s lives - their love for Hannah is amazing to witness. It was mother’s day while we were there and lots of the children had made special things for her. Our guesthouse (NZ Resort) was comfortable, bed was hard, but that’s no drama and within walking distance. Monty, the manager, spoke English and was very obliging bringing us hot water each morning so we could enjoy a hot coffee. What more do you need!

My trip to Thailand, specifically Samuel's House in Payak, has been one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. I can't begin to summarise how richer my life has been from my travel, so I wanted to share with you my experience of meeting the fine young boy I sponsor, Aek. He was initially shy in meeting me, as I was him, but we couldn't stop starring at each other. As communication was difficult, our interactions were based on a smile, a look, a touch and time together. On the first day, he walked along side me as we were shown around Samuel's House. At afternoon tea, I watched him make kites and play with his brothers and sisters. On the second day, he came up to me to wish me a “good morning,” which was so lovely as it was as though he had practiced it all morning until I had arrived.

I recently returned home from a mission trip, with two fellow members of Metro Central Community Church, Brisbane. We spent one week in Vietnam and the second week in Thailand. Whilst in Thailand, we had the pleasure of visiting Samuel's House. Spending time with the children was definitely one of my highlights of the trip! The children were warm and affectionate, and I enjoyed getting to know all the individual personalities.

Heeseon and I wanted to know what we could do for the kids so we decided to visit them. After the long journey from Bangkok to Phayakkhaphum Phisai (where they live), we finally got to meet the kids and Hannah at the bus terminal. Initially, we were all a little shy. However, bonds were formed quickly as soon as we started getting to know each other. We only spent 2 days together but we felt like part of the family.

When we left, the kids made beautiful cards with love and gave them to us. It touched my heart. I still remember them singing and praying before we had dinner together. I found much joy and happiness through them. I am sponsoring one of the children now. I miss them so much and hope to see them again soon.
