Thanks to the commitment of our supporters, we are now set up in terms of all the basic infrastructure facilities needed to provide the children with a safe and clean home environment.

The children fully participate in the day to day running of the home and in doing so are learning valuable life skills. Samuel’s House is a hub of activity before and after school on weekdays. The children have their own chores include laundry, ironing, gardening (vegetables), harvesting rice, meal preparation and post-meal tidy-up.

Building

Two large comfortable rooms accommodate the girls and the boys separately. The rooms are furnished with bunk beds, low-boy style wardrobes and have their own bathroom.

Water tanks

A large water storage tank was purchased in February 2009 which now provides the home with adequate water supply and good pressure levels. We also have drinking water tanks. Both cut down the ongoing costs of buying water.

Laundry

The area between the two rooms (L shaped formation) has been concreted and roofed to create a multi-use space. Laundry facilities line one side and the remaining area is used for meal times, activities and Sunday School.

Kitchen

Our kitchen has come along way since humble beginnings. It has been extended, fully tiled and renovated to create a large, well ventilated and functional space for food storage and preparation.
